Each language Wikipedia is governed by its own versions of community policies about notability, verifiability, and the other principles on which the encyclopedia is built. An artistic group contacted us in August 2019, asking for support in an on-wiki debate; an article on their work was the subject of a deletion discussion on Portguese Wikipedia. Editors were not certain whether the group was famous enough to meet the project’s notability standard. The artists had written a long post on the article’s discussion page, arguing that they were sufficiently notable, and providing additional sources with verifiable information about their work. We explained to them that the editor community generally makes decisions about project content, but directed them to email trusted Portuguese Wikipedia volunteers with any questions.
