You excel in managing donor databases and overseeing development-related donor and prospect research and tracking. This is a critical role: 90% of the Foundation's revenue is derived from donations.

You have strong written and verbal skills and are able to merge the two seamlessly. You have the ability and drive to learn MediaWiki and CiviCRM (our donor database). Your strengths combine strong attention to detail with a friendly personality and sense of humor.

JOB PURPOSE

This position will manage the Wikimedia Foundation's open-source donor database and oversee all fundraising-related donor and prospect research and tracking. In addition, the person filling this position will direct the process of ramping up the Foundation's fundraising logistics for its largest-ever fundraiser in 2011, including building a team of temporary seasonal staff or arranging an outsourced solution.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for donation entry of all non-online generated donations, and timely delivery of acknowledgments/thank-you letters
  • Support general data integrity in CiviCRM (our donor database)
  • Help drive the optimization of the Wikimedia Foundation's donor database by giving systematic feedback, including increasing user-friendliness and automation of tasks, and manage the database from a user perspective
  • Develop and train a temporary administrative fundraising unit to support the annual year-end campaign to reach the largest fundraising goal in WMF history
  • Evaluate in-office service needs and handle preparations for scaling up during the fundraiser
  • Maintain the Corporate Matching Gifts program and be the main contact person for all related communication
  • Collaborate with volunteers to answer fundraising related questions
  • Work with accounting team to ensure accurate record keeping
  • Support the optimization of the Wikimedia Foundation's online donation pages in order to increase donations
  • Edit and occasionally write grant applications and follow-up reports as required
  • Support the work of both in-office and online volunteers as required
  • Support members of the fundraising team in all efforts to grow and improve the Wikimedia Foundation's fundraising program

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • Good general understanding of donation streams, emerging trends and donor cultivation
  • Comfortable using wiki, mailing list, IRC, and office production software is a plus
  • Ability to learn our donor database, CiviCRM
  • The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus
  • Must be comfortable in a highly collaborative, consensus-oriented environment
  • Able to operate effectively in multiple cultural and technical contexts,
