In order to effect change in a complex system like Wikipedia, we need to understand it -- deeply, and in real-time: Where in the editing process do new editors fail? How many people do we reach in India on mobile devices? Are the software features we are developing making a difference? As analytics PM, your job is to get the answers -- by helping us build a scalable, high performance open source analytics platform.
Manage the product backlog for cross-functional metrics and analytics efforts of the Wikimedia Foundation. The Wikimedia Foundation has a small, centralized team for basic analysis and engineering around data analytics. Additionally, there are data analysts and data miners in other parts of the organization who need the support of the central data analytics team. The Product Manager of Data Analytics will be responsible for setting the priorities for the central team, and will be responsible for coordinating organization-wide efforts in data collection and analytics.

* Develop strategy for analytics products, including executive dashboards, real-time web analytics, and activity/retention metrics.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
* Gather and prioritize analytics requirements by collaborating with Wikimedia Foundation staff and community members.
* Prioritize and support development of open source analytics products to facilitate decision-making across the Wikimedia movement. Analytics products include executive dashboards, feature dashboards, click-tracking tools, and visualizations.
* Drive product development with a team of designers, engineers, and community members.

* BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field (MS a plus)
* Minimum of 2 years experience in software development (as an engineer or product manager) or data analytics
* Minimum 2 years experience in data analytics, either as: a product manager or architect for an analytics or business intelligence platform; data analyst performing complex analysis/reports; or a business/systems analyst gathering and prioritizing requirements for large analytics projects
* Experience with web analytics platform such as Google Analytics, Omniture, PiWik, OpenWebAnalytics, or other
