Changing the end of the sentence in the last paragraph is to make the grammer a little better: http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/rpriebe/cs_ed_sp02/links/prep.htm alex756 04:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use fewer templates?

There are quite a few templates nested in this one. Wouldn't it be simpler to have two templates, this one and a nested template for the box formatting? Unless the layout will differ between versions, I don't think there's any need to have more. —Pathoschild 06:40, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Templates are cached when rendered, so there's no real performance penalty to having several layers. There's also a purpose for each layer. It's important to separate the English-language defaults from the layout because some of the text occurs in multiple places. It would require redundant editing (and possibly introduce errors) to place the English defaults directly in the layout. If there's any layer I could remove, it would be between Fundraising2 and the different payment methods. I only separated those so edit logs would be separated and reorganizing Fundraising2 would be simpler. --David Strauss 14:22, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
