This will be the first time I've committed significant resources to the world of OSS. Previously I've worked for fairly large organizations doing proprietary development: everything from aircraft control systems to psychiatric experimentation support. I've very much jumped up the stack with Wikimedia -- my background is embedded systems (think lots of C and assembler) but I also have a fair amount of experience in Python. |

Going backwards in time from this immediate point (whereby I live in SF, CA, USA); I jumped ship from Washington, DC on account of it not being a terribly fun place to live although working for a defense contractor was an interesting experience. Went to DC from Tulsa, OK where I graduated with majors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (with a minor in Math and almost in Physics). Before that, a child of the world: born in Alaska, USA; then did a world tour of Scotland, England, Russia (graduating from High School here), and Azerbaijan. |
