About me

My home wiki is the English Wikipedia, which I have been editing since March 2005 under the username "the wub". I often dabble in other projects too.

In 2011 I joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a Production Coordinator for the annual fundraiser. In April 2012 I became a Community Fellow, working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help documentation.

I currently live in Cambridge, England. When not working on Wikimedia-related stuff (or attending meetups!) I enjoy travelling, origami, and playing guitar badly.

My work

As a Community Fellow, I'm leading a six-month effort to reorganize and rewrite key help pages on the English Wikipedia in order to make them more usable for both new and experienced editors. You can read much more about my fellowship here.

Key goals for my work
  • Identify current issues with help pages, and use cases they should seek to address
  • Develop new content, designs and navigations for a selection of key help pages, and use testing to determine whether they are improvements on the current pages
  • Co-ordinate with the community to implement these improvements
Disclaimer: I work for the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I intend to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, so edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
