;Currency
For the most part, the default currency should be correct and doesn't need to be changed. Pages in languages like French (fr) and Portuguese (pt) do not have a localized default currency because there are different currencies associated with them (e.g. French mainly has CAD and EUR, Portuguese has BRL and EUR). We don't want to offend people by assuming that they're from one area when there are tons of speakers in their language in another area... it would be like putting GBP on the English pages since they speak in England – think of how the Americans would react! ;-)

2008 pages

Alex told me that you're working on cleaning up some of the old 2008 donation pages, so I thought I'd give you some useful tips about that here.

Currency

For the most part, the default currency should be correct and doesn't need to be changed. Pages in languages like French (fr) and Portuguese (pt) do not have a localized default currency because there are different currencies associated with them (e.g. French mainly has CAD and EUR, Portuguese has BRL and EUR). We don't want to offend people by assuming that they're from one area when there are tons of speakers in their language in another area... it would be like putting GBP on the English pages since they speak in England – think of how the Americans would react! ;-)

Logos

These languages have headers with either missing logos, or logos in English:

 • fiu-vro
 • ga
 • gv
 • lmo
 • km
 • lo
 • nds-nl
 • sh
 • uz
 • stq
 • ur

We'll need to replace those with the English for now. Cary or someone else will probably create the logos soon and then we'll update the headers to point to those new ones.

Help

If you have any questions or run into any problems, feel free to poke me. :-) I was one of those who created most of the pages that you're editing, so I'm sure I can help if you have any questions or are wondering why we did something! Cbrown1023 talk 02:18, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about dual-localizing the currency, we can just leave it as USD (the default, since we're an American organization). They can always click on the drop-down and pick whichever currency they prefer.
If we want to wait until the new logos are made to switch them, then that's fine with me. I was just giving you the list since I saw you changing them. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 02:33, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
