We are looking for a Development Associate to help us in managing the Wikimedia Foundation's open-source donor database and overseeing development-related donor and prospect research and tracking. This is a critical role: 90% of the Foundation's revenue is derived from donations.
The ideal candidate will merge strong written and verbal skills, the ability to learn MediaWiki and CiviCRM (our donor database), and an attention to detail with a friendly personality and sense of humor.

JOB PURPOSE
This entry level position will manage the Wikimedia Foundation's open-source donor database and oversee all development-related donor and prospect research and tracking.
JOB SUMMARY
- Responsible for donation entry of all non-online generated donations, and timely delivery of acknowledgments/thank-you letters
- Support general data integrity in CiviCRM
- Help drive the optimization of the Wikimedia Foundation's donor database by giving systematic feedback, including increasing user-friendliness and automation of tasks, and manage the database from a user perspective
- Work with Stewardship Associate to develop proper processes for organizing information in our donor database, particularly new information about Middle Donors
- Work with the fundraising team and communications team to craft and maintain an array of fundraising related communications materials, such as Major Donor packets, newsletters, and custom letters
- Work with accounting team to ensure accurate record keeping
- Maintain the Corporate Matching Gifts program and be the main contact person for all related communication
- Work with the Stewardship Associate and volunteers to answer fundraising related questions
- Support the optimization of the Wikimedia Foundation's online donation pages in order to increase donations
- Research prospects as required
- Edit and occasionally write grant applications and follow-up reports as required
- Support the work of both in-office and online volunteers as required
- Support members of the fundraising team in all efforts to grow and improve the Wikimedia Foundation's fundraising program
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
- Good general understanding of donation streams, emerging trends and donor cultivation
- Must have strong analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to evaluate, analyze and prioritize; self-motivated and independent
- Willingness and ability to promote Foundation's mission to support the expansion of free knowledge globally
- Comfortable using wiki, mailing list, and office production software is a plus
- Ability to learn our donor database, CiviCRM
- The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus
SALARY
$42,000 - $46,000 commensurate with experience.
