Human Resources Manager
JOB PURPOSE
The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources team, and carries out the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs and provides operational support for the team. The HR Generalist has responsibilities in the following functional areas: Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, benefits, compensation, and employment.
The Human Resources Generalist helps develop and implement Human Resources practices that will help develop an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
This role coordinates the implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff, reports to the Human Resources Manager, and assists and advises managers about Human Resources issues.
JOB SUMMARY
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with recruiting and staffing
- Assist with rolling out organizational development changes
- Assist with employment and compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting
- Assist with employee orientation, development, and training
- Process payroll
- Maintain policy documentation
- Draft company employee communication
- Maintain compensation and benefits administration
- Maintain employee safety, welfare, wellness and health programs
- Maintain HRIS database
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in the HR field
- Self-starter with a desire to progress and learn new skills
- Good judgment and ability to maintain calm in difficult situations
- Flexible and creative problem solver
- High level of autonomy and self-management
- Open, relaxed work style
- Good cultural fit, alignment with mission
- Nonprofit experience desired
- The ability to speak multiple languages is a major plus
- Experience living or working outside of your home country is a major plus
- You must be comfortable in a highly collaborative, consensus-oriented environment
- The ideal candidate will be creative, highly motivated, and able to operate effectively in multiple cultural contexts
- Must be able to adhere to deadlines, complete projects independently and manage costs and budgets
- Experience working with online volunteers is a major plus
- Experience with use of wiki technology is a major plus
- Must have a strong affinity for the Wikimedia mission
