From Wikipedia founder Jimmy WalesThere’s nothing more satisfying than finishing a job well done.
We’re not there yet, but we’re closing in on our 2011 goal, and a record number of people have participated in this year’s campaign. We’re not out to see how much we can raise – we’re out to raise just as much as we need. Once we’re there, the fundraiser ends. Every year, we try to make our fundraiser shorter and more efficient. And you can help bring this year’s effort to a successful conclusion by making a donation now. Wikipedia is a non-profit organization, and we will never run ads. Advertising is not evil -- it just doesn’t belong here. We work hard to keep our operation lean and mean. Your donation pays for our 679 web servers and the staff of 95 people who keep everything running around the clock and around the world. Wikipedia is something special. It is like a library or a public park. It is like a temple for the mind. It is a place we can all go to think, to learn, to share our knowledge with others. Please make a donation to keep Wikipedia strong for another year. Thanks, Jimmy Wales |
