"They are tax deductible in the United States and Germany." might be confusing, only donations to the Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. are deductible in Germany. --Kurt Jansson 00:17, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
- At a glance I was afraid so - at least English and German version would be better to rewritten as soon as possible.
- How about
- "Donations to the Wikimedia Foundation are tax deductible in the United States. In Germany, similarly donations to the Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. are deductible."
- Just thought. --Aphaea 03:55, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
- Please - somebody fix this and also add the WM-de donation info on the fundraising page. I need to go to bed. --Daniel Mayer 04:53, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
Other ways to help
The Onion advert is going to link to this page so I'm going to add some stuff about non-monetary ways to help Wikimedia. This is temporarily at meta:User:Angela/Sandbox. This is to show that there are various ways to help rather than being a solicitation of donations. Angela 03:59, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
billion pages
more than 2.5 billion pages served
The use of billion can give confusing. --Walter 09:40, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
That was the amount of pages viewed, I remember reading about this. I have changed 'served' to viewed. Though I'm actually going to change that to page hits. This is how much traffic we get, and I believe that 2.5 billion was just en.wikipedia Redwolf24 10:06, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- I mean when you use "billion" it is very confusing for non-americans to know what the number is you mean. See w:en:Names of large numbers --Walter 14:51, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Billion (meaning 10^9) is pretty much the de-facto standard in english - even the article you cite says it is 10^9 is the modern british meaning. Mark Pellegrini 21:48, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
