Legal talk:Wikimedia trademarks

From Wikimedia Foundation Governance Wiki

Commons and Wikibooks

In June-July 2007, Florence informed us that 1) she had already registered the Wikipedia trademark in France and extended it to other Madrid countries, 2) as well as registered it in Japan and applied for in UK, 3) and that she was going to extend it to all Madrid countries and register it in Canada and Israel (cf. foundation-l mail; eternal thanks to Florence for personally taking care of this).
However, she also said she was registering Commons and Wikibooks in France, so I'm confused: why are those two wordmarks marked as not registered here? --Nemo 07:49, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Names in languages other than English

I have a vague recollection of hearing somewhere that Wikimedia has some explicitly registered trademarks for names of projects written in languages other than English. For example "ויקיפדיה" ("Wikipedia" in Hebrew), "Википедија" ("Wikipedia" in Serbian), and more.

Is it correct that there are such trademarks?

Is it done for all the projects in all the languages?

If not, is there a list of trademarks that are explicitly registered?

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:48, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MediaWiki logo was changed by community desigion. See new logo guidelines. New/updated visual mark now protected by WMF? If so, needs to update this page. --Kaganer (talk) 23:26, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
