Brand Stewardship

Brand Stewardship – Conclusion

Conclusion

The Wikimedia brand’s health is intricately linked to the health of the free knowledge  movement itself. The Wikimedia Foundation can create guidelines and enforce policies, but the movement creates the brand. It is through collective, everyday actions from Wikimedians across the world that our brand comes to life and becomes imbued with meaning, power and influence.

This collective power is harnessed in how brand artifacts are created too. As an example, there was a recent (at time of publication) open, global competition to find a sound logo to represent Wikimedia. Anyone who cares about Wikimedia’s vision, and furthering the impact of Wikipedia and other free knowledge projects, is welcome to participate in these sorts of contests. We invite you to get involved in future efforts to build Wikimedia’s brand as part of a global community.

Thank you for looking through this report! We hope you have found it interesting and informative. We intend to revise the report periodically to keep it up-to-date with new information and developments. For example, there will be more to come as the sound logo contest unfolds, and there will be updates to our metrics and insights.
