This is the time of year when we come together to replenish Wikipedia’s life force.

For me, our annual fundraiser takes on an almost sacred feeling. Our communal efforts feed Wikipedia, keeping it healthy and vibrant.

Wikipedia is a safe harbor of knowledge and information, an uncorrupted vehicle for education, and a testament to the shared values on which the whole Internet was conceived.

As much faith as I have in this community, I’m always amazed that so many people come together in such a short period of time to give Wikipedia everything it needs to flourish.

I don’t take for granted that Wikipedia will continue this unlikely journey. But I do believe deeply in our communal ability to help Wikipedia keep beating the odds.

That’s exactly what we’re doing with this year. A record number of people have already participated in our campaign, we’re closing in our goal.
