A message from Wikipedia author LilarojaWikipedia is a living thing, like a flower. You and I need to water it in order to keep it alive.
Being alive, Wikipedia is constantly changing and growing. It's this growth that has enriched the lives of people all over the world. Billions of changes have been made to give you something worth reading. However you use Wikipedia, you're not just someone reading a website. You're part of a community of more than 400 million people who depend on it for information. Wikipedia depends on you too. Less than 100 people get paid to keep the site up and running, so your donation of $20, $35, $50 or whatever you can really makes a difference . We know that when we receive a donation for Wikipedia, it's more than just money though. It's someone showing their love for a resource they need. I know, I've read dozens of the notes we get along with donations. I’ll never forget hearing from a father and mother whose son had died after a rare illness. They gave out of gratitude that Wikipedia has an article to inform others about the existence of the disease that took their son’s life. It's that love for Wikipedia which keeps me contributing my knowledge to Wikipedia. I hope you’ll choose this moment to send Wikipedia some love too. Thank you, Lilaroja Oliva, Spain |
