Celebrate DAF Day by giving to Wikipedia

Wikipedia is the world’s largest encyclopedia, and it’s yours. A gift from your Donor-Advised Fund helps keep it free and open for people across the globe.

What is DAF Day?

DAF Day is the national giving day for donor-advised funds, the fastest-growing form of philanthropy in the United States. The momentum behind this day has grown every year, and we’re proud to join the nationwide movement. This October 8, recommend a gift from your Donor-Advised fund and help keep Wikipedia free for everyone.

Why participate in DAF Day?

Somewhere right now a volunteer is adding sources to an article, someone is looking up the town where they were born, a curious kid is falling down a rabbit hole about the ocean floor. They are all on Wikipedia, and it’s free for every one of them. That’s the promise you help keep. DAF Day is a chance to use the fund you’ve set aside for good into supporting something millions of people will use tomorrow, and the day after, without ever seeing an ad or hitting a paywall.

A few words from our supporters

Donors like you have kept Wikipedia free for 25 years. Here’s what moved them to give.

Don’t have a DAF yet?

It’s one of the most powerful tools for intentional giving, like a 401(k) for your philanthropy. A donor-advised fund is opened with a sponsoring organization, such as a financial institution’s charitable arm or a community foundation. You contribute cash, appreciated stock or other assets, receive the deduction in the year you contribute, and recommend grants on your own schedule.

To open a DAF, contact a financial advisor or a sponsoring organization, such as your bank’s or brokerage’s charitable arm or a local community foundation.

Please note: This page is for informational purposes only. It does not contain financial or investment advice. Please consult a certified tax professional in your locality to determine if your donation is tax-deductible.
