Job Purpose

This position is responsible for assisting the Controller with the execution of daily accounting functions, including month-end close and year-end audit processes. The Senior Accountant will partner with the Controller to ensure that the finance department has sufficient systems and procedures in place to provide effective support to existing and new program implementation.

Job Summary

  • Prepare monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Responsible for month-end closing journal entries, including revenue and expenses accruals.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly billings of licensing and data services fees.
  • Review weekly A/P and expense reports, includes verifying the accuracy of coding.
  • Oversee fixed assets capitalization and depreciation.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of donation revenue.
  • Responsible for month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Assist with the annual audit and preparation of financial statements under GAAP for Not-for-Profit organizations.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of the annual Form 1099.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of processes.
  • Additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • B.A. degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years progressively accounting experience with knowledge of sub ledger, GL debit & credit, financial reports, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing accounting internal control procedures.
  • Knowledge of GAAP for Not-for-Profit organizations.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing tasks and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work in an open, transparent, and collaborative environment.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to work well with people with a very wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics.
