Hello!
Hi! I'm Maryana, one of the two Community Organizers at the Wikimedia Foundation.

About me
I'm Maryana (User:Buickmackane on English and Russian Wikipedias and on Meta), a Community Department research fellow. My work is focused on studying the social structure of Wikipedia communities, developing methods of researching and writing the histories of the 270+ Wikipedia projects and sister projects. Check out the pilot project I did with Mstislavl from the Russian Wikipedia.

This summer, I'm organizing a fellowship, pairing graduate student researchers with Wikipedians to compose more (and better!) histories. If you're interested or just want to hear more about my work, feel free to contact me: [mailto:mpinchuk@wikimedia.org mpinchuk@wikimedia.org]

If you're interested in learning more, feel free to get in touch with me on my talk page, via email (mpinchuk at wikimedia.org), or on IRC (nick: Maryana).

Finally, I edit as a volunteer on English Wikipedia as User:Accedie. Feel free to stop by my talk page there and say hello :)

From September 2010 to August 2011, I was a Fellow at WMF and worked on several projects, studying the editor trends and social dynamics of different language Wikipedias.

In my current role as Community Organizer, I facilitate projects that support and grow our editing community in all 280+ languages. At the moment, I'm working with Steven Walling on testing user warnings and other templates to improve their effectiveness, as well as organizing a series of global convenings to bring community members together for focused discussions on various topics.
