[Report] Detect violations of GFDL in WMF projects

I would like inform about the report a violation of the GFDL license in projects[1] of the WMF Foundation[2]. The violation report is available at: https://krehel.sk/krehel.sk/Porusovanie_GFDL/ (Slovak).

[Article] Fixing violations of CC BY-SA 3.0 and GFDL licenses" (Slovak)

A new document was created, which is less "legal" and more "practical". It is about "Fixing violations of CC BY-SA 3.0 and GFDL licenses" (Slovak). Dušan Kreheľ (talk) 07:34, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can we get (or is there already) a redirect to Policy:Terms of Use#paid-contrib-disclosure, which could be handled as an interwiki link from project:Conflict of interest (Q4663309)? Please ping me if replying, I don't maintain a watchlist on this wiki. - Jmabel (talk) 01:53, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jmabel: Apologies for the delay. I have created the redirect: Policy:PAID. However, I am unable to link it to d:Q4663309 as I get an error about the page the redirect is pointing to already being linked. I am not sure that you can link redirects to Wikidata - but I am not an expert on that - so open to input or others finishing the task. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 19:04, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GVarnum-WMF: yeah, seems you now can't link redirects from Wikidata. I think that's a change from a couple of years ago. - Jmabel (talk) 20:54, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmabel: Hmmm - what do you think of a Disambig page? Something like Legal:Digital Millennium Copyright Act but specific to paid editing? Probably house it at Policy:Paid editing. Alternatively, go in "Conflict of interest" wording to match the Wikidata entry? ----Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 21:19, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GVarnum-WMF: I'm open to any reasonable solution. Just to be clear what the actual problem is that I was trying to solve: the global policy expressed here is currently not linked in the obvious manner to the item that covers the policies for each individual Wikipedia or other wiki. - Jmabel (talk) 21:41, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmabel: How about these two edits - do those work for achieving this goal? --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 23:31, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GVarnum-WMF: Looks good to me. - Jmabel (talk) 23:38, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmabel: Great - thank you for the feedback and suggestion! --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 23:47, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Terms not displaying correctly on mobile

On the mobile version of the wiki, the sections in yellow are displayed only if the section 13 is opened, as if they were its subsections. I don't know if this is a bug in Mediawiki, but the terms should be fixed immediately, as the sections which are supposed to be more visible are actually made less visible. Janhrach (talk) 13:01, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Janhrach: Thank you for reporting this issue. I believe it should now be fixed, but please let me know if you are still experiencing issues. Thank you! --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 03:26, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Does ToU require that Wikiprojects update license?

On n:Wikinews:Water_cooler/policy#Update_of_license there is a discussion if Wikinews have to update to CC-BY-SA-4.0 or if it is okay to keep using CC-BY-2.5 or another license.

Perhaps someone from WMF could have a look and clarify if the ToU require that license is updated or not? --MGA73 (talk) 10:04, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@MGA73: FYI: Policy_talk:Terms_of_Use/Archive_2#Wikinews,_marketing_company_mediation The default move to CC BY SA 4.0 would not affect any project that expressly chooses to have a different licensing scheme [...] Wikinews and Wikidata's communities will keep their bespoke licensing schemes unless the communities choose otherwise. Okay thank you! --MGA73 (talk) 09:43, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
