The Advisory Board of the Wikimedia Foundation was formed at the start of 2007.

The Advisory Board is an international network of experts who have agreed to give the Foundation meaningful help in many different areas, such as: law, organizational development, technology, policy, outreach, and so on.

The members of the Advisory Board aim to truly support the Wikimedia Foundation on a regular basis, by being included in broader e-mail correspondence or contacted individually. It is possible that the Advisory Board will grow into a more structured "council" type setup as it evolves.
