{{cquote|Wikipedia is great from several standpoints. First, it is extremely helpful in that it provides such a good overview of information on such a wide variety of topics. Second, it is a very powerful demonstration of what can be accomplished when the contributions of many can be aggregated into a whole that in this case is clearly greater than the sum of its parts. Third, at a time when commercial interests dominate the agenda, it is heartening and inspiring to have commercial free access to information and knowledge by all. Bravo!}}

They controlled almost all the access to these images, even though a lot of the images I need for my work are out of copyright and in the public demain. With the advent of the Internet in the 90's and 2000's it finally became much more easier to research, but you still had a very restricted license for a majority of the public domain materials available. Now with the help of Wikimedia, my research has expanded enormously and the public domain materials are now 'free' as they should be. But I know through experience how difficult it is to determine whether an image is in the public domain. So Wikimedia has helped me tremendously in finding these images and the author/owner(s) of the images. That is why I made my donation to Wikimedia. Every Graphic Designer and photographer should do this! }}
