This statement describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from the WikiCite registration process.

Please note that this registration form is powered by Eventbrite, which means that Eventbrite's use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Purpose of Survey

Thanks again for your interest in WikiCite! The information being collected through the registration form is for the purpose of providing you with lodging at the event, as well as to provide event logistics such as badges, and to create a public list of participants in WikiCite. In addition, your email may be used to contact you for feedback after the event.

What Information We Collect

In order to provide lodging and event logistics, as well as collect feedback after the event we need the information in this form, including your real name, email address, gender, and information about where you’ll be on certain dates. You may also optionally provide information about your company or other institutional affiliation, social media, dietary restrictions, and any other personal information you think is relevant for your stay and participation in the event.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

With the exception of the circumstances described below, the results of this survey will only be shared with Wikimedia Foundation staff and contractors, and WikiCite conference organizers, who need to process this information and are subject to non-disclosure obligations.

Your information will be shared with the hotel in order to provide you with lodging at the event.

We may use your email to contact you with a short survey to collect feedback about the event.

We will host a public page on meta.wikimedia.org with participant names, Wikimedia usernames, affiliation, and social media information for those attendees who provide permission to share this information publicly. We will only include your information on this page if you give us permission to do so.

We may disclose any collected information when required by law, when we have your permission, when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, users, or the general public, and when necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or any other Wikimedia policy.
