Our projects

All major projects of the Wikimedia Foundation are collaboratively developed by its users. For this purpose these projects are using a wiki software called MediaWiki. The content is free under the GNU Free Documentation License, meaning that it may be freely used, freely edited, freely copied and freely redistributed subject to the restrictions of that license. See also our link to all projects.

Metawikimedia

Metawikimedia , also calld shortly meta, is a Mediawiki project portal wiki. Where talking about all of projects, new project, policies, development issues, adminstrative all of wikis.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is a multilingual project to build free encyclopedias in all languages of the world. The project startet in January 2001 and has nearly reached 1.000.000 articles in about 140 languages. The largest Wikipedia is in English language, followed by German, Japanese and French.

Wiktionary

Wiktionary is a multilingual project to create open content dictionaries and thisauruses in every language. The project started in December 2002 and now in 146 languages. The largest Wiktionary is in English language, followed by Polish, Dutch, Swedish and French

MediaWiki

MediaWiki is wiki software released under the GPL which is used by Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects and other sites using MediaWiki.

During the period 21-29 May 2004, all Wikimedia sites have been upgraded to the MediaWiki 1.3 software.
