Whereas, in December 2016, the Wikimedia Foundation announced that it would use a portion of the surplus funds raised beyond the goal of US$63 million set forth in fiscal year 2016-2017 Annual Plan to support the Wikimedia Endowment; and

Whereas, Wikimedia Endowment Advisory Board member Peter Baldwin and Lisbet Rausing have agreed to match the Wikimedia Foundation's fiscal year 2016-2017 contribution to the Wikimedia Endowment up to US$5 million.
