This template will create a plain link (

this instead of this). The first parameter is the URL; the 2nd parameter is the text you want to be linked. If you do not provide the 2nd parameter it will default to the URL.
If the template doesn't work as expected, try defining the parameters like this: {{plainlinks|1=URL|2=link text}}
