About me
I find the concept of data visualisation very empowering. For me, portraying and visualising seemingly bland and vague data and eventually to make it meaningful and useful has a childlike fascination to it.
I love reading about astronomy and history. You might find me tracing out constellations or attempting to spot messier objects in the night sky.
Also, I consider myself a voracious reader. I plan to read at least 33% of all the books lying around at the Wikimedia Office in the little time I'll be around. Progress so far:
Critiqued (Christina Beard)
What technology wants (Kevin Kelly)
What is your dangerous idea? (John Brockman)
Is the Internet Changing the Way You Think? (John Brockman)
Currently Reading:
The Wikipedia Revolution (Andrew Lih)
Free Software, Free Society (Richard Stallman)
Please feel free to suggest any interesting books.
My work
I will be designing and developing general purpose tools which will help the Communications team to generate insightful data visualisations using Wikimedia and Wikipedia data which could be shared internally / externally. I also help the Communications team with interactive content for blog stories.
