About me

I started editing the English Wikipedia as Deskana in 2005. I became an administrator in 2006 and have done many things since then, but my most prominent activity has been in my service as a CheckUser.

I have a Bachelor's Degree (with Honours) in Computer Science and Mathematics, and have submitted for a Master's Degree (with Honours) in Systems Biology. My research during my Master's was on mathematical models of electroencephalogram for the treatment of absence epilepsy.

In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, travelling, video games (in particular StarCraft II), tasting different beers, and fixing/breaking computers. Also, I spend some of my spare time on that whole Wikipedia thing. You might have heard of it? ;-)

My work

I am the Associate Product Manager for Platform. Broadly speaking, this means that I am responsible, from start to finish, for seeing through projects which relate to improving MediaWiki.

For the community, my work makes me a good point of contact for anyone who has any questions, comments, or concerns about how we're developing MediaWiki. Feel free to get in touch, and I will either be able to answer your question, or point you to someone who can.

I maintain a rough list of things I'm working on here. The scope of my work means that I'll ultimately be managing smaller projects than the other product managers, but I'll be doing more projects at once than they are.
