I'm Jessamyn West, technologist and librarian, and I live in Central Vermont.

I work for the Internet Archive's Open Library project. I was recently the community manager for MetaFilter and ran the Q&A part of the site Ask MetaFilter. I'm concerned with rural technology and digital divide issues and what I perceive to be the unfunded mandate that public libraries in the US seem to have received to educate the 20% of the public that remains somewhat tech illiterate. I've written a book about it called Without a Net: Librarians Bridging the Digital Divide.

I joined the Wikimedia Foundation's Advisory Board as of June 2011 and I'm looking forward to trying to find ways to help librarians and Wikipedians work together to increase people's understanding of reference sources, collaborative online cultures, and Wikipedia in general.
