About me

I come to the Wikimedia movement and the Funds Dissemination Committee with a passion for strategic and high-impact grantmaking, collaborative work, and transparent decision-making. My background includes philanthropic activities and NGO programs, systems, and operations. I spent four years at CARE International with the Emergency Capacity Building Project, a collaboration between six of the largest NGOs working to improve humanitarian response. There, I led the knowledge management and learning portfolio and focused on increasing accountability to disaster-affected people. Prior to that, I worked for several years at the Global Fund for Children, managing the Eastern Europe and US grants and capacity building initiatives. Over the years, I have developed and served on a number of creative grantmaking programs, including a giving circle and several local, regional and national grants panels.

I have lived, worked, and traveled in about 40 countries, and speak Spanish and Portuguese and (hopefully) 'good enough' French. If needed, I always have a team building activity or an icebreaker ready to share.

My work

I joined the Wikimedia Foundation in January 2013 as the first Senior Program Officer for the newly constituted Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC). Through an innovative and participatory grantmaking process, the FDC aims to effectively allocate movement funds to achieve Wikimedia’s mission, vision, and strategy. It is my job to ensure that the FDC process is operating smoothly and effectively. I serve as the primary point of contact for fund-seekers and recipients of FDC program funding.
