Moka Pantages has been the Communications Officer of the Wikimedia Foundation since October 2009.

Moka brings ten years of communication and program development experience to her role at the Wikimedia Foundation. She joined the Foundation in 2009 after living in the future -- Seoul, South Korea-- for two years, where she worked at the Seoul Broadcasting Service (SBS News), one of the top-three broadcast news organizations in Korea,as a Program Manager at the Future & Vision Desk. While in Seoul, she also completed her MA in Korean Studies at Yonsei University where she focused her studies on the evolution of media and its impact on politics, society and the development of democracy on the Korean peninsula. Prior to her move to Seoul, she lived in Seattle and Austin while working with Porter Novelli (PN), a multinational communications firm, as a Senior Executive. At PN, she focused on program development for healthcare and early-stage technology companies, with a specific expertise in collaborative, social technologies. Moka is originally from the DC/Metro area where she began her career as a communications and grant manager for a local NGO, the Black Leadership Council for Excellence, and as an intern on Capitol Hill with Senator Barbra Mikulski. In her free time, she provides communications counsel to the Korean American Cultural Arts Foundation.
