'''Pete Forsyth''' has been a Wikimedian since 2006. As a consultant, he helps organizations integrate their work with Wikimedia's mission and projects. He served as the Wikimedia Foundation’s first Public Outreach Officer from 2009 to 2011, engaging the vast network of Wikimedia volunteers and supporters to improve the experience of new project contributors. He was a key architect of the [[outreachwiki:Public Policy Initiative|Wikipedia Public Policy Initiative]], a pilot project promoting collaboration among professors and Wikipedians, and the development of best practices in using Wikipedia as a teaching tool in higher education.

Pete began writing Wikipedia articles as a volunteer in 2006, focusing on the history of his home state of Oregon. He helped found [http://wikiprojectoregon.wordpress.com WikiProject Oregon], a dynamic group of Wikipedians which coordinates collaborative projects and coordinates with local institutions. Prior to joining the Wikimedia Foundation staff in 2009, Pete provided communication services to non-profit, business, and political clients, and worked for several news organizations.

Pete has a BA in Philosophy, with a thesis on Aristotle's ''Nicomachean Ethics'', from Reed College.
