Pete Forsyth, Wikimedia's Public Outreach Officer, began writing for Wikipedia articles as a volunteer in 2006, focusing on the history of his home state of Oregon. He helped found WikiProject Oregon, one of the strongest local associations of Wikipedians, which coordinates collaborative projects and establishes ties with local institutions. Prior to joining the Wikimedia Foundation's staff in 2009, Pete ran a consulting business, providing wiki and social media services for startup businesses, political campaigns, and non-profits.
