User:Cssq is a cross-wiki vandal. I'm posting to your talk because you are one of the only few admins who have been active in the past several years. Koavf (talk) 20:42, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Koavf for the notice. I have gone ahead and blocked them here as well. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 06:49, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Possible translate import problem

Hello Gregory. We think there may be a problem with the translate, import, or PageMigration extension losing licensing information. (c.f. meta:Special:PermaLink/25261954). I'll open a ticket for the issue.

Can you provide exact step-by-step directions for how you are making edits such as this one? Notice that while it certainly says you made the page, it suggests it came from elsewhere, but does not include any attribution of where it came from.

Thank you! (Please ping on reply). Xaosflux (talk) 11:55, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please answer this? It's now being discussed at m:Steward requests/Miscellaneous Pppery (talk) 16:38, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was done using Translate extension's import feature. The licensing and overall shortcomings of that feature are being discussed by the Language team within the Foundation - and some work is already underway at T329043. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 00:52, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

UCoC and AGF

Hi Gregory. I asked a question regarding the UCoC's AGF provision in June at Policy talk:Universal Code of Conduct#AGF and haven't received a response as yet. You seem, judging by previous discussions on that page, to be the WMF's go-to person for answering UCoC questions. Thanks, Heavy Water (talk) 01:39, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Translation admin

Hello. As a global sysop, I pop by occasionally to delete vandalism and sometimes, some translation pages are involved and it'll be ideal to delete the whole page as blank or no having a translation. As such, is it possible for me to get local translation admin rights so I can cleanup useless translations easily?. Minorax (talk) 04:19, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Minorax: Yes! Happy to do so - thank you for your help! I have also requested help from Stewards and working on Phabricator to get this access for all Global sysops moving forward. Thank you for reaching out. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 22:45, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Thanks for giving me the translation admin right here. However, I'm facing issues where the pages cannot be deleted as I'm not allowed to edit pages due to namespace restrictions listed at Special:ListGroupRights. Is it possible for you to discuss with the team to add the edit-legal right to the TA user group? Minorax (talk) 05:13, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - I think we can make that work. Although it should allow you to do those actions as a sysop. Do we need to change something so Global Sysops have actual sysop status on this wiki I wonder? But I am looking into this and appreciate your help on this wiki and with sorting out root of this problem. We DO want Global Sysops to have these edit rights on this wiki to support your ability to help us, it is just a matter of sorting out how to make all of that actually work given unique setup of this wiki and general setup of global rights. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 17:54, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We may be able to get rid of edit-legal at some point - but for sake of functionality over purity of code - I will likely just go ahead and expand the rights of the two edit groups, sysops, and translate admins to have same basic edit abilities. From what I can tell, Global Sysops should have the rights on this wiki that would in theory void need for edit-legal rights (as intended anyway) - so still need to verify what is happening before I implement anything - but I think I am coming to a basic understanding of the problem. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 18:46, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Minorax: These rights are now setup if you could please test on your end if that resolved the issue - it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 21:58, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Seems to be working now. Thanks! Minorax (talk) 03:00, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request for edit rights

Hello, Gregory Varnum. I noticed some bad errors in the By-laws here. The Article numbers and subsections are messed up in the outline layout of the bylaws. Can I have edit rights to correct them? It is possible that the Bylaws were created with a script or macro... I peaked at the source. If that is the case, perhaps you would prefer someone familiar with the script to make the changes instead of me. In that case, I suggest doing that soon. It is your call, of course! FeralOink (talk) 03:22, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @FeralOink, at this time, edit rights on this wiki are limited to authorized Wikimedia Foundation staff accounts. However, I have gone ahead and made some changes to that page. Please let me know if you see any additional errors, or feel free to utilize Template:Edit request on the talk page of the page you would like to request an edit be made to. Thank you for pointing this error out! --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 22:16, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Gregory Varnum. the bylaws look MUCH better now! Two other things I noticed: First, there might be a missing paragraph or section. I left a comment describing it on the bylaws talk page. Feel free to delete my comment if I overlooked something obvious. Next, from Article III, Section 15 onward, the alphabetical sub-headings aren't broken out by line. They ARE broken out in every (well, all those that I quickly scanned!) sub-heading prior to Section 15 of the bylaws. For example, see Article III, Section 13 that has (a) and (b) on separate lines.--FeralOink (talk) 16:22, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Translation page deletion

Hello! Could you delete the last two translation pages here? I deleted the actual translations, but the translation pages will need to be handled by a local admin. EPIC (talk) 15:29, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
