Community Engagement
The Community Engagement team increases the quantity, quality, diversity, and reach of free knowledge by supporting people and organizations aligned with the Wikimedia Foundation mission. We support contributors by representing them in the development of new technical tools, by supporting community governance, and by making grants to individuals, groups and organizations working on building community and growing content on Wikimedia projects and sites as well as related open knowledge projects. We are committed to supporting under-resourced and emerging regions, languages and communities, particularly in the Global South.
Support & Safety
SuSa serves the Wikimedia Foundation, readers and contributors by providing support on Foundation initiatives with a focus on community consultations, governance, and training.
Technical Collaboration
The Technical Collaboration team at the Wikimedia Foundation helps developers to build features in collaboration with our communities. We support WMF Product teams, volunteer developers, tech ambassadors, and other contributors willing to get involved in the planning, development, and deployment of software features in Wikimedia. We act as liaisons between non-technical communities and developers, and we organize developer outreach programs and events.
We are organized in two subteams based on primary audiences: Community Liaisons (editors) and Developer Relations (developers). We are part of the Community Engagement department.
Resources
The Resources team increases the quantity, quality, diversity, and reach of free knowledge by supporting mission-allied organizations and people around the world.
Programs, Capacity & Learning
The Programs, Capacity, & Learning Team (PC&L), which includes the Education Program and the Wikipedia Library, is responsible for developing capacity for evaluation of grant-funded projects as well as other movement programs, including those not funded directly by grants. The team is also responsible for developing avenues for shared learning toward the development of effective practices for projects and programs.
Advancement
The Wikimedia Foundation Advancement team cultivates the resources that propel our movement. Every year, we engage over 2 million people from nearly every country in the world to support Wikipedia and its sister projects. Would you like to join them?

Legal
Legal team members steward globally the values of the Foundation's mission and our community of writers, editors, photographers, and other contributors. The team oversees all legal matters for the Foundation and facilitates initiatives designed to support and grow our community and their various projects, including Wikipedia and its sister Wikimedia websites. The team deals with a wide range of issues and projects to protect and defend our key values when challenged. The team's work includes policy drafting, trademark law, copyright law, international law, employment law, litigation, fundraising and grant law, domestic and international contracts, privacy law, ethics, internet law, and non-profit corporate governance.
The team is also charged with carrying forward the Foundation’s goals of advocating for the free knowledge movement in new ways, including fighting for content online, facilitating community discussions about critical Wikimedia Foundation policies, building and overseeing good governance where appropriate, and working to improve legal and legislative policy to aid the dissemination and use of free knowledge.
Counsel
Legal interns and fellows
The Legal department runs a legal internship program to educate and train promising law students or recent law school graduates in the areas of Internet law and free knowledge organizations. The team is looking for legal interns for every summer, fall, and spring semester.
Communications
The Communications team leads the Foundation's efforts to openly and effectively share information—about the Wikimedia movement, the Wikimedia projects and the Wikimedia Foundation's work itself—with a global audience including volunteer editors, site readers and other stakeholders.
